Driland Kolleg has been part of the "School without Racism - Schools with Courage" network since September 2022 and is actively committed to the equality of all people. At Driland Kolleg, we live and learn in a climate that is characterized by cordiality, non-violence and sensitivity in the context of encounters between different individual and cultural lifestyles and advocate a coexistence characterized by peace and tolerance that excludes all forms of discrimination.

At our school, the students and also the teaching staff have committed themselves to the three points:

  1. I am committed to ensuring that my school carries out sustainable projects, campaigns and events to overcome discrimination, especially racism.
  2. If violence, discriminatory statements or actions are carried out at my school, then I speak out against them, address them and support an open discussion so that we can find ways together to treat each other with respect.
  3. I am active in ensuring that my school carries out projects against all forms of discrimination, especially racism, every year.

Our commitment to non-discriminatory coexistence is reflected in our everyday teaching as well as in various additional events that are regularly dedicated to our commitment to the "School without Racism - Schools with Courage" network during the semester. These activities range from commemorative events, project days, exhibitions and workshops to lectures and panel discussions, some of which we hold together with the adult education centers in Gronau and Ahaus. We are supported in our activities by regional coordinators from the state of NRW. Our school's patron in the fight against racism is the lawyer, author and women's rights activist Seyran Ateş.
